Want to see a movie - see it in Canada..

Was down in Florida over the holidays and had the opportunity to see Blood Diamond at a Muvico theater. They say, in their trailers, it's America's premier movie going experience. Sheesh.. that's too bad. Don't get me wrong, our theaters here aren't perfect, and since the buyout of Famous we have little competition left in the market, resulting in poorer service from the Cineplex family.

That said, my worst experience here doesn't come close to how pitiful they put on a movie in America. OMG, after 5 seconds, I was tempted to leave and ask for my money back. Without exageration, there were at least 50 scratch lines running through the film -- ALL of the film. And no one in the theater seemed to care or notice.

WHY - because they weren't watching the film. Children (yes, in America Blood Diamond is rated R) were running around, teens were talking, everyone was checking their text messges. I'm not really sure why there was anyone in the theatre at all.

We have it good here compared to America -- I'll try to remember that next time I'm in our theatres.
